Is the Dell Poweredge R620 rackmount compatible with SSD7000 Series NVMe RAID Controllers?
Compatibility Status: Compatible
Link to Compatibility Report: LINK
Note: The compatibility reports we provide are based on research of the target platform / motherboard, using the manufacturer’s official specifications and product documentation.
Summary: The Dell Poweredge R620 is capable of supporting HighPoint SSD7000 series NVMe RAID controllers if the customer opts to install a riser card. The motherboard BIOS provides UEFI support, and provides option ROM settings for UEFI devices.
Manufacturer Documentation: Dell PowerEdge R620 Owner's Manual
1. PCIe Host Interface: Dell Poweredge R620 supports PCIe Gen3 (PCIe 3.0). It is a 1/2U rackmount chassis, so can only support full-sized PCIe controllers if the system is equipped with a riser card. Depending on the riser card the customer selects, the system is capable of supporting two PCIe x16 cards at x16 bandwidth, and an additional x16 card at x8 bandwidth.
2. Boot RAID Support (NVMe arrays used to boot a system): The Dell R620 supports UEFI BIOS mode and provides Option ROM support, and appears to be able to support bootable NVMe RAID configurations.
3. Data RAID Support (NVMe arrays used for data storage): There are no apparent restrictions for data-only storage configurations
4. Recommended Controllers:
- Bootable Configurations: SSD7103, SSD7202
- Maximum Performance: We would recommend the SSD7101A-1. If equipped the correct riser card CPU, Cross Sync may possible (there are 3 PCIe x16 slots associated with the CPU, and they can be configured to operate at x16/x16/x8 lanes).
- Maximum Storage Capacity: Would recommend the 8-port SSD7140 (M.2).
