Title: Can I move a bootable SSD7000 NVMe configuration from one system to another?
Applicable Products: SSD7103, SSD7202, SSD7505
This is possible. If the two systems are identical, this should not be a problem.
However, if the systems differ from one another, there are several things customers should be aware of:
- BIOS Settings: the target system’s motherboard must have the same UEFI capabilities as the original system. The target system must have a UEFI Boot Mode. A Legacy only mode will be unable to boot from the SSD7000 controller.
- Target hardware environment vs. original hardware environment: The operating system must be capable of adapting to the target system’s hardware environment. If the motherboard environment is the same (motherboard model, BIOS version, installed devices/peripherals), then this is generally not a problem. However, if the target motherboard has different hardware (chipset, onboard devices, NVMe support, other PCIe devices, etc.) then you cannot guarantee that the OS will be able to boot successfully. Note, this applies to any system (not just those booting from SSD7000 series controllers).
