Is it safe to complete disable or remove the SSD7000 series RAID controller’s cooling fan?

We strongly recommend that the fan be left enabled for most applications. Unless you are certain that the platform’s cooling system can support the NVMe configuration without the additional fan, we would not recommend disabling it.

 

The WebGUI’s SHI tab provides allows you to monitor the temperature of each NVMe SSD. In general, NVMe SSD’s should not be used at temperatures exceeding 65C.

 

If fan noise is a major concern, we would recommend considering the SSD7104. This product supports 4x M.2 NVMe SSD’s, but is not equipped with a fan by default. Instead, it employs our new noiseless, full-length heatsink. Customers can upgrade the SSD7104’s cooling system with the optional HS8004F accessory, which incorporates a low-noise fan into a full-length heat sink for maximum heat dissipation.
