How are HighPoint’s SSD7000 series different from other, more common NVMe controllers?
Simply put, SSD7000 series controllers are stand-alone solutions. Unlike ASUS Hypercards or the various expansion/adapter solutions available in the general marketplace, SSD7000 series controllers DO NOT require a motherboard with Bifurcation support, nor are they limited to specific chipsets or platforms.
SSD7000s card are recognized as NVMe controllers by default, and are supported natively by most modern operating systems. The SSD7000 driver and management software are not required unless you want advanced RAID and storage management capability.
We highly recommend installing our device drivers and WebGUI, but they are not 100%.required.
However, our drivers, RAID engine, and management interfaces offer superior performance and reliability, while providing wealth of advanced, NVMe-specific maintenance and monitoring features (such as SMART and TBW tracking capability).
