Question: Is the RocketStor 6438S or 6434S enclosure compatible with third-party SAS HBAs?
Answer:
This may be possible. The RocketStor 6438S or RocketStor 6434S enclosures can be used with third-party SAS HBA’s that support the industry standard SAS protocol via SFF-8644 connectivity.
However, we would recommend using the HighPoint RocketRAID 3742C with these enclosures, as they have both been fully validated with this controller solution in a variety of hardware/software environments.
If you plan on using either enclosure with a third-party SAS HBA, we would recommend confirming compatibility with the device’s manufacturer.
