After using a hard drive with a RocketRAID controller or RocketStor RAID enclosure, it cannot recognized by controllers made by other manufacturers. How do I resolve this?

This problem is not common; aside from a drive related issue, this is usually related to a feature known as “Staggered Drive Spinup”.

Staggered Drive Spinup is a drive-related firmware feature that enables large configurations of drives to power up sequentially, to avoid overwhelming the power supply and provide enough time for the host controller to detect each drive member.

Depending on the HighPoint controller you are using, the Staggered Drive Spinup setting may have been enabled at the BIOS level.

If this setting is still enabled on the drive side (firmware level), and the controller that is currently hosting the drives cannot support this feature, the drives will never “spin up” (power up). They will wait for the command from the controller, which will never be sent.
