Overview
This article examines why the HighPoint CLI (command line interface) management utility is unable to detect the NVMe RAID AIC when used with some versions of VMware ESXi.
Why can't we find the controller in ESXi using the CLI?
As shown in the figure below, some customers have reported that the CLI will not recognize the NVMe AIC when running ESXi 7.0. However, the AIC’s Marvell 2241 controller is recognized as a PCIe device.

Our FAE department was able to duplicate this issue with a specific version of ESXi (ESXi v7.0b-build 16324942)
What version of ESXi does this issue occur with?
This problem is known to occur when SSD6200 series AICs are used with ESXi v7.0b-build 16324942.
How to solve this problem?
This problem can be resolved (or avoided) by updating to the latest version of ESXi. After verifying a variety of ESXi releases, we have determined that the CLI functions normally when using ESXi v7.0U2a-build 17867351 or later.
